1) What is The Blue Yonder Associates (TBYA)?
The Blue Yonder Associates is a select group of hospitality service providers in the tourism industry, who work together to promote and practice Responsible Tourism based on economic, social and environmental policies which aim to reduce the negative and maximize the positive impacts of tourism.

2) What are the benefits of booking through TBYA?

Travelling is all about experience. Just a bad experience in one property is all what you need to spoil the whole experience. TBYA gives you a platform to choose those properties that believe and run their properties in a responsible way. They are also open towards the guests evaluating their claims of responsible Tourism. This is probably one of the best ways of transparent evaluation that is practised in the industry anywhere in the world.

Our system also ensures that you can enquire and do the bookings directly with the property owners. Since we work very closely with these property owners, you can write to us in case you have any queries or any delay in response from the property owners.

3) How do I search for a property in TBYA ?

The search feature is available on the
homepage. There are two ways to do this.

a)      Simply choose the destination where you wish to travel to and select the type of accommodation(s) you are looking for; OR

b)      If you aren’t too sure about the destination, choose a category based on the theme of your holiday (rivers and backwaters, beaches, wilderness etc) and our system will show you the destinations belonging to the category of your choice. Choose one of these destinations and then select the type of accommodation you are looking for.  

Once you submit your search criteria, a summary of results based on the type of accommodation will be displayed along with the number of properties found for each. On clicking the respective type of accommodation,  a summary of the properties will be displayed, from which you can click on the property that interests you to see it’s detailed profile along with the responsible travel policies.

4) How do I book through TBYA?

Before you read this, please read how to search for properties. Once you have searched for a property of your choice, click on the “book with us” option available on the property details page. Submit your queries/booking in the form that follows. When you submit the details, it will be directly emailed to that particular property owner.

Booking with a property is very simple but in case you run into any problems, you can always
email us your queries or booking details along with the name of the property you wish to stay with and we’ll book it for you.


5) What are the charges for using the services of TBYA?
TBYA does not charge anything for using our services. Our idea is to bring together practitioners of Responsible tourism and hence provide you an opportunity to find the best in one place. Feel free to explore all our features and enjoy the benefits of our services.

6) Do I get a discount when booking through TBYA?

TBYA does not have any service charges. All our services for a traveller are free and hence the question of discount doesn’t arise. However, the properties listed with us will have various offers and special packages from time to time. So do keep visiting us often to avail these offers.


7) Can I suggest a property if I don’t find it on your website?
We are always adding to the list of our members and welcome any suggestions about a property that is in line with the aspects of responsible tourism. If you would like to suggest or recommend a property that’s not on our website, please click here and submit the form in our “recommend a property" section.

8) What kind of properties are listed in TBYA?

The properties listed with us are classified as home stays, resorts, hotels and lodges, house boats, and ayurveda retreats and ranges from low budget to luxury accommodations. All the properties listed with us strictly adhere to responsible tourism policies and membership is given only to such properties. These properties have well defined economic, social and environmental polices that are visible and can be evaluated by a guest.


9) How do you short list the properties or qualify a property to be a TBY Associate?

We have a well defined and clear process in terms of whom we want as our members. Any property owner who is genuinely practicing responsible tourism policies or wishes to be a part of this initiative is welcome to join us. We have developed a holistic and transparent system where in travellers like you can evaluate the property owners based on your experience with them.


10) Is TBYA a property ?

TBYA is not a property but a network of properties that follow responsible tourism policies.
 

11) Any other services offered by TBYA other than booking/reservation or Besides accommodation, can TBYA help me with my holiday needs?

12) In case I don’t get a proper response from a property, whom do I contact ?

All the enquiries or bookings are directly forwarded to a property owner and the property owner will respond to the same. In case you are not satisfied with the response or don’t receive any response from a property owner, please do let us know by email.  

13) What do I do if I cant find the destination I want to travel on TBYA ?
TBYA is growing and we will be expanding to more destinations and properties in time. But in the meantime, if you can not find a destination of your choice on our website, please feel free to get in touch with us and we might be able to suggest a few properties in that location based on our experience.  

14) What is the relationship between The Blue Yonder (TBY) and TBYA?
TBYA is an initiative taken by TBY to promote responsible tourism. TBYA and TBYA work together in providing our guests with complete holiday solutions and in providing them with an opportunity to contribute with us in creating a better place to visit and to live in. 15) How do I pay for a booking made using TBYA?
All the bookings made by you are directly forwarded to the property owners. You don’t have to pay TBYA for any booking made using our services and all payments has to be made directly to the property owner, as per their terms and conditions based on your direct communication with them.  

16) How can I contribute to Responsible Tourism or be a responsible traveller
Contributing to Responsible Tourism

You are the most vital ingredient in the whole system of responsible tourism and it is as a result of feedbacks and suggestions from travellers like yourself, TBY took the initiative of TBYA to promote responsible tourism.  

Your role starts with choosing your responsible travel partners. This is where the TBYA and TBY can assist you with your decision making. By travelling with TBY and staying with the properties in TBYA, you are contributing in making changes to the lives of people by creating better places to live in and for people to visit.

We have developed a very transparent system wherein you get a touch and feel experience of the responsible tourism policies as declared by various property owners and evaluate them based on your experience.

A Responsible Traveller
A responsible traveller is one who takes responsibility for and respects the people, culture and environment of the places he or she visits. A responsible traveller’s role is not confined to oneself but also to association with his or her travel partners.


17) How do I give a suggestion or feedback regarding the services of TBYA?

You are a very important link to the system of Responsible Tourism and we encourage you to provide us with your suggestions and feedback at all times. Kindly use the

Each member is allotted a web space on our website and you can find most of the details here. If you would like to know more, please submit your queries under the “book with us” link and the property owners will get back to you with the details.

TBYA website is always updated on a regular basis. The information provided by the members is updated immediately on to the website as and when we receive the updates from them.
