How does a potential Associate formulate Responsible
tourism policies?

Is this a certification program?
No, this is NOT a certification program. This is a
voluntary group of property owners declaring what they
believe is a responsible way of running their
properties. We believe that by declaring the responsible
aspects of running a business, we become more open and
transparent to guests and this increases the chances of
them wanting to stay for longer in the properties.
Although there is no exact statistics available in terms
of the number of tourists who prefer to use responsibly
run properties, it is certain that there is a growing
number of people who prefer to stay in properties that
are concerned about ecology, environment and the
empowerment and involvement of local people.
What are the benefits of becoming a Blue Yonder
Associate?
Our parent organisation The Blue Yonder works closely
with international agencies that advocate responsible
practices in the tourism industry. These range from the
International Centre for Responsible Tourism, Green
Travel Market, International Eco Tourism Society, ECO
Club International, ATREE, British Education and Travel
Association and CSR Asia. This initiative has created
immense interest in the industry as we have been
discussing about this in the global workshops we have
attended in the last one year.
The Centre for Conservation Governance and Policies of
Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment
(ATREE) has recommended The Blue Yonder business model
as a leading initiative in Eco-Tourism in India in their
white paper on Eco Tourism Policies supported by the
British High Commission.
We regularly attend travel related conferences
nationally, internationally and work closely with travel
and trade marts including World Travel Mart (London),
ITB (Berlin), BTTF UK, TopResa Deauville (France)
amongst many others.
The Blue Yonder will have representation at these travel
markets and we are positioned as a Responsible Travel
Company. Our promotional materials will carry a profile
of your property and will be effectively marketed by our
team.
In addition, through search engine optimizations and
internet advertisements, we will bring target oriented
traffic to our website which will generate enquiries
about your properties.
With the passion and immense interest we have in
Responsible Tourism, we will be researching and hence
keep you informed about trends, facts and figures on RT
in the international market
Your properties will be prominently promoted through
our twice a month e-newsletter that will reach our
exhaustive data base of travellers, Travel companies and
Media. One TBY Associate will be profiled on both our
website for two weeks, which will have case studies and
guest feedback.
