responsible tourism policies:

Economic
We practice the tradition of Ayurveda in it's pure form and provides direct employment to local community members who have the know-how of this ancient medical system. Most of our employees are from local community - right from a physicians, masseurs and up to the management level.

Our initiative supports an ancient traditional family to maintain a property  which was being run down before we intervened and offered to support them showing a financial model that benefited many.

Most of the materials used at the property are sourced locally including the raw materials for the medicines we use.

We still maintain the institution of dance drama along with oldest costumes in the famous dance drama called Kathakali, which brings in financial benefit to local artists. We also promote and support percussion schools in nearby villages

More than 50 students are give free training in traditional martial arts.

Social
Owing to huge maintenance cost, many of the traditional historic structures in
Kerala are under threat. The owners of the properties don't have any
option other than to dismantle the structure and sell the stone and
timber, which is of high quality, to the construction lobby some times
at throw away prices. The building that accommodates the present 'mana' is all that is remaining from what was originally an architectural splendour. The promotion of the property evolved from the idea of conserving
heritage properties most of which are in a state of decay.

We, prepare the medicines and oils for the treatment in our premises
collecting the raw materials from locally available sources which in turn supports the local community members.

We support and maintain a  charitable trust set up to promote and disseminate traditional  knowledge of the family that varies from Ayurveda, martial arts toxicology, performing rituals and art forms, dance drama and even treatment of elephants.

In order to maintain the tradition of property we still run 'kalari'
(martial arts center) within the property. Village students are taught and trained free of cost.

Environmental
Our property is plastic free zone. And we ensure that there is no non
bio-degradable waste being brought into the property.

Indigenous water harvesting methods are practiced through the maintenance of traditional ponds within the property. Due to high land value, most of the ponds in Kerala are now disappearing.

Fresh  medicines prepared in the premises with out any preservatives. We provide only "green gram" powder instead of chemical based soaps for bathing. Solar water heater saves electricity.

Only recycled water is used for gardening.

We don't support the usage of mineral water in disposable plastic bottles as this increases the problems of solid non bio degradable materials. Instead we promote the Ayurvedic traditional of warm herbal water to our guests.
